New user payments
The easiest way to invite your friends to use Venmo is by sending them a payment using their phone number or email address. This recipient will show up in your feed as a New User until your friend signs up. Once you've sent the payment they'll get an email or text with a link to sign up and accept the funds that you sent them. If they are having any trouble locating that payment, please have them reach out to us directly and we'll be happy to help out.

Remember that you can always cancel/take back a payment you sent to a New User as long as they haven't accepted the payment yet.

Inviting friends without a payment
If you'd rather just invite a friend to sign up without sending them any money, you can login at http://www.venmo.com. On the right side of the homepage, you will see an area where you can enter your friend's email addresses to send them an invite.

Invite reminders
When you invite your friends to sign up for Venmo, we'll send them an email containing a link they can use to sign up. If they don't sign up after a period of time, we'll send them a reminder of your invite. This option, along with other notifications and alerts can be turned off by customizing your notifications:

You can choose to receive notifications via text/SMS, email, or from one of our apps. Note: to receive notifications from our apps, you need to enable push notifications for the Venmo app in your device settings.
